Job Description
Long-Term Substitute Teacher
- Special Education Learning Disabilities-Language Based
- Swampscott Elementary School
Long-Term Substitute needed to cover a one-year leave of absence
SY 25-26
Qualifications:
Special Education Teacher
- Learning Disabilities-Language Based
Master’s level required
3 years experience at least
Moderate Disabilities DESE certification in required grade level
Wilson and Lips trained preferred)
Responsibilities:
Complete evaluations, write IEP’s, progress reports
Provide specialized instruction and accommodations to students with learning disabilities in reading, writing and mathematics
Responsible for teaching ELA and Math to students with dyslexia in Middle School in a substantially separate classroom
Knowledge of utilizing a structured, direct, sequential, systematic, multi-sensory instruction to teach decoding/encoding and phonemic awareness
Team Based program with Speech and Language Therapist and Wilson/LIPS trained reading teachers who provide reading tutorials
Knowledge of Assistive Technology
Communication with families
Wilson Trained and LIPS preferred
Requirements:
Must have at least 2 excellent references
Must pass all required screenings, including
CORI, SAFIS
fingerprinting, and 1-9 eligibility to work in the U.S
Experience in working with children, preferably within an educational setting
Strong communication skills, both written and spoken
Must be physically capable of and willing to engage in providing levels of support which may include modeling, coaching, and verbal, visual and/or physical prompts required to meet the student’s individual needs as stated in an IEP
Other qualifications will vary depending on the specific needs of the assigned
Physical Requirements:
This position may require long periods of standing, walking, and sitting; talking or hearing in person and by telephone; using hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reaching with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. The individual may be exposed to ultraviolet lights as are found in computer monitors and copying equipment. The individual may be exposed to various hazards in the building.
