Job Description
Northfield Elementary School seeks a teacher with Special Education licensure in Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities to provide individualized, functional academic and social skill instruction to neurodiverse students in the early elementary grades.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Instruction and Curriculum
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs).
Adapt and modify the general education curriculum to meet the specific needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities.
Oversee the implementation of curriculum implemented by Instructional Assistants.
Provide instruction in academic subjects, social skills, and daily living skills.
Teach functional skills and promote self-reliance and independence
Assessment and Progress Monitoring
Assess student needs and progress regularly.
Administer educational diagnostic tools.
Maintain accurate records of student progress and IEP implementation.
Use data to inform instruction and adjust IEPs as needed.
Collaboration and Communication
Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and other professionals to ensure student success.
Communicate regularly with parents and other stakeholders regarding student progress and IEP implementation.
Provide support and resources to parents and other professionals as needed
Classroom Management and Environment
Create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Manage student behavior and maintain a safe and orderly classroom.
Other Responsibilities
Chair IEP meetings and develop resulting IEPs
Participate in other school events.
Attend professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Adhere to state and federal laws, district policies, and administrative regulations.
