Job Summary:
The Southwick-Tolland-Granville Regional School District is seeking a dedicated and compassionate 5th Grade Special Education Teacher to join our student-centered team. The ideal candidate will support the academic, social, and emotional development of students with disabilities through individualized instruction and a collaborative approach with general education staff. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring all students have access to a high-quality education in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students with IEPs in a pull-out or inclusion setting, based on student needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Adapt general education lessons and materials to meet students’ needs and abilities.
- Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technology tools to support differentiated learning.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor student progress using formal and informal assessments; maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Lead IEP meetings, attend and actively participate in parent conferences, staff meetings, and professional development sessions.
- Promote a safe, positive, and respectful classroom climate that supports student engagement and behavior management.
