Position Overview:
The Exploration Studio Instructor will lead a dynamic, schoolwide K5 special subject class focused on social-emotional learning (SEL), Vision of the Graduate (VOG) competencies, and STEAM. This educator will lead high-quality, engaging lessons for K5 students that integrate Yale
RULER, CASEL SEL
competencies, and Vision of the Graduate (VOG) skills, guiding students toward meaningful STEAM-based projects that promote creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The educator will design and implement age-appropriate STEAM learning experiences that are intentionally connected to SEL themes (e.g., emotional regulation, empathy, communication) and VOG competencies (e.g., critical thinking, accountability, independence) that empower students and build essential future-ready skills. The educator will provide services once weekly for a 45-minute block to students using effective, developmentally appropriate methods to address individual, group, and classroom needs, with a focus on strengthening both social-emotional and academic development through project-based learning.
Responsibilities:
- Teach engaging lessons that integrate the Yale RULER framework, CASEL SEL competencies, and Vision of the Graduate skills, guiding students through meaningful, hands-on STEAM-based projects
- Deliver instruction to all K5 classrooms once per week for a 45-minute period, reaching all students across the school
- Design and facilitate age-appropriate STEAM learning experiences intentionally connected to SEL themes such as emotional regulation, empathy, and collaboration, while reinforcing skills like critical thinking, independence, and accountability
- Support schoolwide SEL implementation by collaborating with leadership teams to embed RULER practices and emotional intelligence strategies into daily school routines and culture
- Address the academic and social-emotional needs of students through inclusive, responsive, and culturally relevant instruction aligned with both group and individual learner profiles
- Foster a classroom environment that supports exploration, creativity, teamwork, and resilience
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop learner behavior reporting on the report cards and complete semester Report Cards for Exploration Studio.

Qualifications:
Massachusetts Elementary Education License required (Grades 16, or equivalent).Experience or interest in SEL, project-based learning, and/or STEAM integration.
