August 25, 2025 DefinitionThe Section 504 Coordinator serves as a facilitator for initial evaluations, reevaluations, and annual meetings of the 504 Plan process and supports implementation of the plan, assisting both the faculty and building level administrators. Essential FunctionsCoordinates the scheduling of 504 Plan meetings including, but not limited to, maintaining a building and/or grade level meeting calendar, creating and sending invitations, evaluations/teacher reports in advance of meetings, and rescheduling meetings as necessary.

Facilitates initial, annul and re-evaluation meetings for 504 Plans except in the instance of a 504 Plan that is medical in nature. Acts as the primary team member responsible for allocation of resources as designated by the building principal and/or his/her designee.

Writes Section 504 plans.

Coordinates related services evaluations and services as per regulatory guidelines and 504 service grids.

Assists with the organization and implementation of state-wide testing as requested.

Ensures adherence to 504/ADA regulations, policies, and guidance from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Assists in the organization and facilitation of transition meetings between schools, middle to high school, and charter or private schools to Northampton High School.

Provide teacher training and support regarding the Section 504 process and implementation of the Section 504 plan.

Education and ExperienceMasters Degree in relevant fieldMinimum five years of teaching experienceProven writing and editing skillsProficiency in the use of technology, including databases, web-based instruments, and other technological tools or devices as may be used in the districtStrong communication skills and experience participating in the Section 504 team process
