Job Goal:

The PK-K Teacher Talks Transition Specialist is an outstanding opportunity for a motivated team player who would like to contribute talent and skills to the Somerville Early Childhood Department to support the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated, mixed-delivery early education system in Somerville ensuring success for all students entering kindergarten. The mission of the Somerville Early Education department is to ensure that young children in Somerville have equitable access to a curriculum approach where they are engaged in joyful, robust, challenging, child-centered experiences grounded in play, discovery, and their own interests, and guided by state and national learning standards.

Job Summary:

The PK-K Teacher Talks Transition Specialist assists the Director of Early Childhood Education with supporting the PK-K transition. The PK-K Teacher Talks Transition Specialist provides linkages and transition support between and among the Somerville Public Schools kindergarten programs, Somerville Public Schools preschool programs, and community preschool programs to ensure a smooth transition to school.

Qualifications/Requirements:

­
Mustbe an SEU, Unit A member
Ability to problem solve and multitask, prioritize, and work independently as well as contribute to a team.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal skills. Technological facility with databases, Google documents, Excel, Word, etc.
Flexible, collaborative, and active contributor to a positive and creative work environment.
Goal and action-oriented with the ability to monitor milestones and progress.
Possesses a desire to collaborate with others.
Advanced degree preferred
A second language besides English is helpful (especially Spanish, Portuguese, or Haitian Creole).
Responsibilities include:
Coordinate Teacher Talks to support information sharing between teachers.
Other duties as assigned

Terms of Employment:

Seasonal/Yearly Appointment
2025-2026 School Year

Stipend:

$400/ max amount of hours is 13.33 at $30/hour Work is to be conducted outside of regular work/school hours
