Job Description

HEAD TEACHER

•WEBSTER

AND WEBSTER EXTENSION ASD PROGRAM

The Head Teacher shall be the employee member of the school staff designated by the
Superintendent of Schools to assist in the administration of the department or program.

Requirements:

Five years’ experience in Education
Current MA teaching license, moderate or severe disabilities, special education, guidance, counseling, or related field SEI endorsement

Preferred Requirements:

Master’s Degree in School Administration from an accredited institution
Massachusetts State Certification as a Special Education Administrator
Candidates should possess:
The ability to support the implementation of ASD and special education programming at the Webster and Webster Extension. The ability to develop the full potential of a highly competent staff.
A strong background in curriculum with experience in program design, evaluation, and management.
Knowledge and understanding of special education regulations, the referral process,
IEP development and compliance.
A proven record in the management of students and student activities.
Superior skills in articulating the goals and objectives of the school to the community
of Everett.
The ability to articulate the district philosophy to support families of students in crisis or need. Knowledge of the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, best practices for students on the autism spectrum, and effective teaching strategies.
Advanced computer skills

WORKING TIME

According to the Everett Teachers Association contract

DUTIES:

Implement and supervise curriculum, establish course outlines, and provide education objectives consistent with the community educational goals.
Employ an efficient system for pupil and program appraisal and make recommendations for changes needed to improve existing programs to meet the needs of students.
Evaluate student data with the teachers to make informed instructional decisions that support individual student performance and achievement.
Support the identification of students for the program in collaboration with school leaders and monitor student progress.
Apply exit and entry criteria for students being considered for the program. Collaborate with other school leaders to ensure the needs of multilingual learners are met within the ASD program. Support the inclusion of students in the ASD program within general education settings. Support the implementation of high-quality instructional materials in literacy and math for students in the ASD program. Be visible at district and community events.
Keep families informed about the progress of their child.
Provide leadership and initiative for organizational improvements.
Oversee the program’s curriculum alignment in accordance with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Oversee the implementation of all Everett Public Schools district policies.
Remain current on instructional methods, educational materials, and technology for improving the teaching and learning of all students.
Perform any other duties and assume other responsibilities as may be assigned by
the Superintendent of Schools, Assistant Superintendents, and Principal.

GENERAL ADMINISTRATION

Adhere to all directives of the Superintendent of Schools, Deputy Superintendents, Assistant Superintendents, and Principal.
Counsel building staff as required
Promote a healthy and safe environment.
Prepare letters, written reports, and make oral presentations regarding administrative activities.
Attend and participate in various professional and in-service meetings that enhance
the educational goals of the schools, as approved and directed by the Superintendent
Supervise substitute procedures.
Maintain building inventories of educational materials, furniture, and equipment.

Salary:

Salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement
between the Everett School Committee and the Everett Teachers Association.
