Job Summary
Health and Social-Emotional Learning teachers create a flexible and supportive educational program and class environment that fosters learning and personal growth. The teacher provides instruction at an appropriate grade level while establishing an effective rapport with students, as well as parents and staff members.
This position requires a valid Massachusetts teaching license. This position is a 1.0 FTE long-term maternity leave position that is expected to start on August 25, 2025 to 10/31/2025.
Job Requirements
The following are required:
A valid Massachusetts initial, professional, or Advanced teaching license. School Counseling license preferred.
Essential Job Functions
Fowler School will be utilizing the Second Step Curriculum.
Knowledge of the program is preferred but not required
Teach five classes per day at a mixed level of elementary and middle school grades (4-8)
Collaborate with classroom teachers and the counseling team
Communicate with families
Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroom
Preparing lessons, units, and projects to complete learning objectives
Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students
Encouraging students to explore learning opportunities and career paths
Creating, assigning, and grading various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects
Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
Tracking and evaluating student academic progress
Leading parent-teacher meetings when necessary
Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers, and supervisors
Managing student behavior
Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Communicating regularly with parents
Helping students improve study methods and habits
Administering tests to evaluate students’ progress
Must hold a MA DESE License
Spanish and/or Portuguese speaking preferred.
A two day New Teacher Orientation will take place on August 18th and 19th.
The first day of school for teachers will be August 25th.
