QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor’s Degree
Masters degree preferred

Professional Certification:

Massachusetts

DESE ESL 5-12

certification required
SEI Endorsement
This position is .8 MLL and .2 English. If applicant holds only 5-12 ESL certification, they will teach one class outside of their license.

Specialized Knowledge:

Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
A strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy
Must have a working knowledge of the WIDA standards and the Massachusetts Standards-Based curriculum
Knowledge about High School philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents
Thorough understanding of theories and teaching methodologies along with a sophisticated understanding of the academic, social, and emotional needs of high school students learning English as a second language Ability to identify both formal and informal assessments that measure students skills
Ability to evaluate/analyze formal and informal data in order to provide recommendations based on data
Knowledge of best practices in teaching to individuals and small groups with a highly systematic approach
Thorough understanding of and commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice as they relate to student engagement and opportunity

Preferred Experience:

Experience working with students who are multilingual learners is required
Experience working with Students with Limited or Interrupted Formal Education (SLIFE) and English learner students with disabilities (ELSWD) is preferred.
Experience teaching in a diverse public school preferred
Skills
Must have the ability to collect and analyze data in order to make recommendations for instructional programming.
Must have well-established verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to share information and resources as appropriate, including strong written communication skills.
Candidates should have a passion for working with students, families, and colleagues
Candidates must be flexible and collaborative
Candidates must be able to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
Candidates must be organized and able to meet ongoing, time-sensitive deadlines for work production
Bilingual skills, especially in Spanish and Portuguese, are highly desirable

Duties include, but are not limited to:
Thoughtfully planning for and delivering dynamic and creative English instruction that is high quality, engaging, and aligned to Natick curricular guidance, WIDA State Standards, and Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
Practice culturally responsive communication with students, families, and colleagues.
Maintain high expectations for all students and serve as a facilitator of student learning.
Organize and apply a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings.
Develop, implement, and consistently monitor language proficiency goals and objectives for ML students and keep parents informed about student progress in their requested language.
Assess student progress using a variety of WIDA-aligned assessments, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to adjust instruction as needed Collaborate with Special Educators, ML Educators, and General Edudation teachers to ensure students needs are being met.
Consult with and assist SEI teachers of ML students to scaffold lessons, assignments, and assessments as appropriate for individual students.
Keep abreast of current developments in the field and continue to deepen understanding of the discipline(s).

Online test for ML students.
Must be committed to the vision of high expectations for achievement, equal access to high levels of instruction, the achievement of academic and linguistic proficiency for all students, and the closing of the achievement gap.
