Job Description
The Braintree Public Schools is seeking to hire a full-time Special Education Teacher (PROVE program) at the secondary level. The ideal candidate will have a moderate special needs license (5-12) and experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Creating and delivering academic, life skills and functional curriculum
Creating and maintaining community based partnerships for vocational opportunities Developing and implementing IEP plans for students while ensuring compliance with IEP timelines
Writing Quarterly Progress Reports Serving as special education liaison for parents/guardians Participating in IEP meetings including reevaluation Communicating with parents Creating and managing program schedules Collaborating with special educators, specialists, special education administration and building administration Working and collaborating with support staff
Understanding and implementing positive behavior support plans while collaborating with BCBA
Transitioning 8th grade students to 9th grade and 12th grade students to Post Graduate Programming
Ideal candidates will have:
Masters Degree and DESE Licensure in Moderate and/or Severe Special Education
Strong communication skills
Ability to multitask
A reliable, responsible attitude and a compassionate approach
Creative thinker who can problem solve Experience with MCAS-Alternate Assessment Students in the program will receive English, Math, Science and History within the substantially separate setting. They have inclusion opportunities throughout the school year. Students take part in community based job sites weekly. The PROVE Program collaborates with other substantially separate programs daily, working as a member of this team is a crucial part of this job.
