Job Description
The Sharon Public Schools is seeking a full time Special Education Teacher for the Team Based Learning Program (TBL) at Sharon Middle School.
The Sharon Middle School’s TBL Program is a full-inclusion, in-district, therapeutic program for students with emotional disabilities in grades 6-8. Please find the program description HERE. As part of the TBL program, students receive specially designed instruction related to their individual IEP goals and, as appropriate, during their academic lab (AC Lab) period and in the classroom. During these times, students are taught executive functioning skills, study skills, and receive academic support to help them successfully navigate daily school expectations.
The students receiving support from the TBL program participate in services that target self-regulation, self-awareness, social awareness, social problem solving, perspective taking, and responsible decision making. The duties of the special education teacher include but are not limited to:
Direct instruction with students based on IEP goals,
Develop and implement behavior management strategies and plans for students as needed,
Act as case manager/liaison for students on their caseload,
Develop and implement IEP goals and accommodations,
Collaboration/consultation with general education teachers as well as related service providers,
Communication between home and school,
Administer and analyze special education assessments as part of the initial and re-evaluation eligibility process,
Write evaluation reports which include diagnostic impressions and educationally relevant recommendations,
Facilitate and chair annual review team meetings,
Complete all necessary IEP process paperwork, including quarterly progress reports,
Experience with the IEP team process, as well as the administration of evaluation tools.

Required Qualifications:

Strong written and oral communication skills. MA DESE Certification

  • Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities 5-12.

This is a full-time position and follows the Sharon Middle School Schedule. Salary is based on experience in accordance with the Sharon Teachers Association Collective Bargaining Agreement.
