Job Description

Position Responsibilities:
  • This position is in the Skills program, a special education program that serves students who have autism spectrum disorder and/or other related disabilities that present with similar challenges.
  • Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access curriculum
  • Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
  • Monitor student progress; revise IEP according to progress
  • Co-teach in regular education content area, or teach in small group settings
  • Communicate with school personnel outside of the department
  • Communicate effectively with parents and other stakeholders
Job Qualifications:
  • Attendance at departmental and school-wide meetings
  • Requisite licensure as defined by the DESE and SEI Endorsement
  • Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • A strong commitment to helping a wide variety of culturally diverse students achieve their full potential
  • Ability to support the development of culturally responsive programs and activities that promote student engagement, family engagement, community involvement and a positive school climate
