SUBJECT:
Prekindergarten Diagnostician & Interventionist Team•Special Education Teacher
Qualifications:
DESE and/or State Licensure in appropriate field
Six or more years of successful teaching/therapy/interventions for students with disabilities, exceptional written, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to analyze data, familiarity and experience with screening, diagnostic, and assessment tools.
Licensure Requirements:
DESE Certification in the appropriate content area. Core content educators are also required to be dual certified in either Moderate Disabilities (PK-8; 5-12) or Severe Disabilities (All Levels).
Core content educators with active DESE Certification in their content and do not hold certification in Moderate Disabilities (PK-8; 5-12) or Severe Disabilities (All Levels) will be expected to be working toward such certification.
Training and experience in diagnostic testing and assessment.
Extensive training on the administration of various assessment tools appropriate to the role (Special Education, Speech/Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Adjustment Counseling).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Comply with policies established by federal and state law and school policy in the areas of program development, evaluation, and the implementation of consultative services to students and parents/caregivers.
Maintain compliance with regulatory timelines and ensure programs developed maintain eligible students in the least restrictive educational environment, consistent with federal and state mandates.
Assess students in all areas of suspected disability.
Support the implementation, execution, and evaluation of intervention supports and services to pre-K students identified by screening and/or referral on a regular basis throughout the school year.
Assist in the development of teacher training and professional development programs appropriate to prekindergarten level.
Consult, as needed, to community-based prekindergarten programs educating Brockton residents on the academic and developmental progress of the student.
Stay current in new diagnostic assessments and technology.
Participate in the
IEP TEAM
meeting regarding the interpretation of assessment data and development of IEP for students.
Consult and provide training to parents given specific areas of the evaluation and assessment process.
Work collaboratively with all other members of Prekindergarten Diagnostic and Intervention Team.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
