Job Description
The Athol-Royalston Regional School District is looking for Special Education Teachers at the Athol Royalston Middle School. Licensed candidates, and those who may qualify for Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) licenses or waivers, are encouraged to apply. Individuals who believe they may qualify for an Emergency License or DESE waiver are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates must be committed to helping students find academic, social, and emotional success in an inclusive setting. The chosen educator will work alongside and in partnership with a content general educator. The co-teachers will create an equitable, inclusive environment that supports students’ mental health while presenting them with challenging, rigorous content with a focus on growth.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direct specialized instructional services to special needs students on your caseload, including, but not limited to all aspects of reading, math, writing, executive functioning, etc.
- Caseload management for assigned students, to include writing IEP’s & monitoring student progress, oversight of all aspects of the service delivery and coordination with related service providers
- Obtain present levels/baselines using informal assessments
- Conduct and interpret results for Educational Evaluations
- Participate as a member of the special education team responsible for determining eligibility for special education
- Communicate with parents to foster partnership for school success.
- Collaborate with Director of Pupil Services and Special Education Coordinator as well as school administration regularly
- Ability to facilitate meetings and develop IEP’s through a team process
- Works well with community members, parents, and student
- Possess Excellent written and verbal abilities
