Summary:
The Hospital Teacher/School Liaison role is responsible for the educational needs of patients meeting intervention criteria at BBCH. This includes teaching in inpatient and outpatient settings and working with patients and families to advocate for patients with their teachers and school districts.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Education or equivalent educational background as specified by the State of Maine required.
License/Certifications:
Maine State Certificate for Grades K-8 preferred. Maine State Certificate for Grades 9-12 accepted. Special training or certification in Special Education preferred. Certification from another state will be considered with the understanding that Maine State certification will be achieved within first year of employment.
Experience:
Three years of classroom experience with a school district required. Previous healthcare or educational experience in a hospital setting preferred.
