Summary:

The Special Education Teacher

  • Developmental Disorders PHP role designs, implements, and oversees the educational services for students in attending the Partial Hospital Program.

The Special Education Teachers are integral members of the multidisciplinary education and treatment teams and assist to design and implement designated instructional services to meet the prescribed academic, behavioral and daily living needs of students in accordance with the IEP and behavior plan.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education or related field required. Master’s Degree preferred.

License/Certifications:
Maine Department of Education:

Certification 282

  • Teacher of Children with Disabilities required.
Experience:

One year of teaching experience with children with developmental disabilities required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Required:

DOE fingerprinted required.

Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred:

Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students’ ages 5
