- WILTON School-Based Section 28 Supervisor Special Education Job Goal(s): 1.
Work collaboratively with lead teachers in the development and implementation of Adaptive Skills goals. 2.Administer and complete the prior authorization process for students eligible to receive Section 28 school-based services. 3.Provide supervision to Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs) delivering Section 28 school-based services to students requiring rehabilitative and community school-based services. Qualifications Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, staff, and community members. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, remaining solution-focused in face of barriers to progress. Certifications Valid State of Maine certificate for Special Education teaching position (282) and CHRC. Performance Responsibilities Complete comprehensive assessments and the prior authorization process for students eligible to receive Rehabilitative and Community (Section 28) School-Based Services within 30 days of admission. An individual treatment plan (ITP) is created by the supervisor, teacher and family during the first 30 days of the student’s enrollment in the program. The information for the individual treatment plan is derived from the admission paperwork, comprehensive assessment, IEP minutes and goals, evaluations, historical information, and parent and student interviews. The ITP is reviewed by the team at least every 90 days or sooner upon request of the parent or guardian. Provide required supervision of Behavioral Health Professionals. Provide instruction in, and oversee accurate documentation of, student participation and progress using the district-selected data collection platform. Provide direct and consultative service in the implementation of behavior intervention plans and instructional methodologies. Provide ongoing technical assistance and training to staff, administrators and parents to include behavioral intervention strategies. Assist staff working with children with autism and other developmental disabilities on leveraging skill strengths, teaching skill deficits, maintaining acquired skills, teaching self-help skills and developing social skills. Engage parents in the process of completing comprehensive needs assessments and behavior programs for students in order to empower parents by providing them with skills and techniques to support the positive behavior development of their child. Education Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field. Master’s Degree preferred. Experience A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience in Special Education, preferably in adaptive or life skills programs. Travel Requirements Travel between schools or district buildings required
