Job DescriptionKIPP:

KC Seminar Teacher works as part of the KIPP Legacy High School team in
conjunction with KIPP Forward Team. You will be responsible for supporting the development of and teaching a curriculum for high school juniors which will prepare them to apply for best fit post-secondary programs in their senior year. You will also work closely with academic teachers, parents, students, and the greater Kansas City community to ensure our students are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to successfully matriculate to and thrive in college, career, and beyond.

This position is ideal for applicants who have at least 2 years of experience teaching in a high school or in an academic or college counseling role and are passionate about increasing college access for traditionally underserved students through college counseling
and advising.

As a KIPP KC Public Schools Teacher, your core responsibilities include:

Instructional Delivery and AssessmentDevelop or internalize year-long Missouri State standards-based (or other curriculum-based), backwards-planned unit plans and lesson plans that meet all students’ learning needsUse assessment data to modify short and long-term plans in order to promote all students’ academic performanceEmbrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvementMaintain accurate records, grade book, and data tracking systemsAcademic and Cultural SupportAssume personal responsibility for student achievementCollaborate with content and grade-level teams to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigorEstablish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respectParticipate in the daily functions of the school such as morning, lunch, and afternoon supervisory dutiesAttend critical school events such as staff meetings, open houses, and student-led parent conferencesMeet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlinesExemplify the school cultural expectationsQualificationsSkills and QualificationsBachelor’s degreeRelentless focus on results and a commitment to teamworkDeep commitment to educational equity and underserved communitiesValid Missouri Teaching license with required certification for subject and level assigned•Demonstrated knowledge of core subject area assignedSatisfactory outcome of a background check•Applicants currently pursuing a certification may apply before certification is received.
