The Teacher Interventionist will be responsible for writing accommodation plans. The Teacher Interventionist will direct and supervise the classroom teachers and interact with supervisory staff, school districts and parents. The teacher interventionist will assess students using academic achievement measurements in order to develop appropriate curriculum and lesson plans. Job Responsibilities :
Develops and implements a classroom management system Provides a positive role model of appropriate and highly respectful interactions with staff and students. Assures that clear and concise classroom routines, procedures and expectations are being met. Review teacher’s IEPs/accommodation plans in the classroom setting for compliance purposes. Assists Teachers in developing weekly lesson plans that contain all of the required components. Work in tandem with other teachers to research and implement current best practices for teaching mathematics in K-5 classrooms and small group settings Observe students during Tier 1 instruction to help teachers identify student misconceptions and work with teachers to develop research-based strategies and classroom tasks for helping address those misconceptions Meet with students in individual and small group settings to strengthen long-term success in subject area(s) of difficulty. Collaborate directly with school administrators and teachers to implement interventions which align with student needs and learning goals. Analyze formative and summative assessment data to identify students’ academic strengths and areas of needed improvement, to craft learning pathways based on quantitative and qualitative data, and to gauge students’ progress in mathematics Co-plan, co-teach, and/or model current best practices in K-12 classrooms. Designs an educational program based on the individual needs of the student Assures that assessment and progress monitoring data as well as the MS Benchmarks are being used to develop appropriate goals and objectives for the students. Works in conjunction with the academic team to determine related services and develop specially designed instruction for the student and then incorporate these into the instructional program. Works in conjunction with the academic team to determine the Least Restrictive Environment for the student based on all Federal and State Regulations (i.e.
IDEA, OCR
). Oversee the proper documentation of all contacts related to job requirements and regulatory standards. Collaborates/communicates with related services providers, parents, & school district staff Follows the appropriate chain of command when questions, issues and/or concerns arise. Apprises all parties who have a legitimate educational interest in the student of meetings, concerns, progress, and other issues. Establishes and maintains a cooperative and professional relationship with peers, support staff, parents, organization staff and school district personnel. Conduct IEP/accommodation plan meetings as necessary ensuring IEPs are in full compliance. Maintains up to date records on each student Establishes a schedule for reevaluations, IEPs and other record keeping responsibilities. Maintains school-related files for each student to include, IEP, assessments, progress reports, cumulative records and correspondences. Gets input from parents, support staff, and agencies that provide services to the student. Update and develop forms for the education program as needed.
Required Qualifications :
AA teaching license from the State of MS in Special Education, Elementary Education, Administration or Early Childhood and minimum of two years specialized experience working with students receiving special education services. Experience providing team leadership in an academic setting preferred. Must have a Mississippi Department of Education License in subject area of teaching responsibility.
