Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A contracted position is available for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired at a K-12 school located in Concord, NC. This role provides specialized instruction and support to students with visual impairments, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and fostering their academic and social development throughout the school year.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students with visual impairments Deliver adapted instruction using Braille, assistive technology, and other resources Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success Conduct assessments and monitor student progress Provide training and resources to staff and families regarding visual impairment needs Assist students in acquiring independent living skills and social integration
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired Experience working with K-12 students who have visual impairments Knowledge of Braille, low-vision aids, and assistive technology Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams Commitment to student-centered instructional practices
