Job Description

Medical Assistant/Patient Care Specialist InStride Coastal Carolina Foot & Ankle New Bern, NC 28562 We are looking for a Medical Assistant/Patient Care Specialist to join our team! The ideal candidate will have a friendly and outgoing personality, is capable of multitasking and works well in a team-based setting. The job duties include assisting the doctor with patient care, documentation in EHR, obtaining x-rays, clerical and organizational task. Will assist with appointment scheduling, answering phone and coordinating care with other healthcare agencies. Essential Functions (May perform part or all of the following) Follows the patient intake/rooming work in place at the practice. Record patient vital and medical statistics for MIPS. Assist with reviewing medication history and updating medication list. Assist with satisfaction of pertinent health maintenance requirements. Utilizes standard precautions, complies with policies and other Regulatory Agency standards as applicable to the practice. Reports patient’s condition and reaction to the provider following procedures, medication administration, or treatments. Assists with patient inquiries for prescription refills, appointment scheduling, and referral authorization as needed. Participates in electronic documentation of care at the direction of the provider. Monitors inventory and stocks medical supplies and emergency medications/equipment specific to the practice setting. Ensures that all ordered laboratory and diagnostic tests are tracked and logged, and that the provider is presented with all test results. Measure, fit and dispense Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Take X-rays using a digital X-ray machine. Autoclave sterilization of surgical equipment. Other duties, responsibilities and activities as needed. Physical Requirements Work consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 -40 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Possible exposure to communicable diseases. Intact senses of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Manual finger dexterity. Education, Experience and Certifications High school graduate or equivalent required. Recognized/certified as a CMA or RMA a plus but not necessary. Must have thorough understanding of HIPAA and OSHA compliance. Podiatry experience a plus.

$16.00 – $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 32 per week
