Job Description
Qualifications

  • North Carolina licensure or certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
  • Experience working with visually impaired students, preferably in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of adaptive techniques, assistive technology, and instructional strategies for students with visual impairments
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with students, parents, educators, and colleagues
    Responsibilities
  • Employment Type:

    Part-Time (5 hours/week

  • 1 hour/day)
  • Duties:

    Providing Visual Impairment (VI) Services

  • As a TVI, you will play a vital role in providing specialized support to a visually impaired student, ensuring they have equal access to education and a positive learning experience
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to understand the visual needs and learning preferences of the student
  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans that address the unique needs and goals of the student
  • Provide direct instruction and support to the visually impaired student, utilizing appropriate adaptive techniques and tools
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure the student’s needs are met effectively
  • Adapt and modify educational materials to accommodate the student’s visual impairment
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP)
  • Provide guidance and support to other school staff to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Monitor and document the student’s progress, adjusting strategies as needed
