Job Description
Elementary Middle School Special Ed Teacher | Durham, North Carolina 3.9 3.9 out of 5 stars Durham, NC 27703 Minimum 1+ years special education experience required. A full-time Special Education Teacher is sought for the 2025-2026 School Year to serve students in grades 5th through 8th. This contract position is based in Durham, NC, within a K-12 public school setting. The role involves delivering both inclusion and resource services to a caseload of approximately 20 students, addressing a full scope of disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to diverse learning needs. Provide instruction and intervention in reading, writing, and math, utilizing the HillRap program. Collaborate with general education teachers to support inclusion services. Monitor student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. Manage classroom behavior and foster a supportive learning environment. Maintain accurate records and communicate with parents and school staff.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education. Experience working with elementary and middle school students (grades 5-8). Knowledge of inclusion and resource teaching models. Ability to work with a wide range of disabilities and learning challenges. Familiarity with intervention programs for reading, writing, and math, such as HillRap. Strong communication and organizational skills.
