Through a network of SparkLabs—collaborative, student-centered innovation spaces located in local schools—SparkNC empowers students (Spark Scholars) to explore emerging fields, build skills through hands-on experiences, and connect with industry professionals.
Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic, learner-centered educator to serve as the SparkLab Facilitator. This individual will guide and support students as they explore personalized learning experiences in high-tech fields, such as artificial intelligence, software development, cybersecurity, and data science. The Facilitator will cultivate a culture of creativity, collaboration, and curiosity within the SparkLab, empowering students to build real-world skills and showcase their learning through robust portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
Foster a safe, inclusive, and inspiring SparkLab learning environment rooted in student agency, innovation, and exploration.
Support students (Spark Scholars) as they select and complete SparkNC’s digital learning experiences (mini-courses).
Facilitate design challenges, hack-a-thons, tech expos, and collaborative learning experiences.
Coach students in creating, curating, and presenting high-quality portfolios of their work.
Connect students with local mentors, industry professionals, and guest speakers to extend learning beyond the lab.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to integrate SparkLab learning with school pathways and student goals.
Maintain ongoing communication with families and community partners to share student progress and SparkLab highlights.
Participate in regular professional development and cohort meetings with other SparkLab Leaders across the SparkNC network.
Monitor student progress, provide feedback, and contribute to program evaluation and improvement efforts.
