Position Summary The Teacher is responsible for creating an atmosphere that is positive for learning and that stimulates critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making with children, in accordance with Lightbridge Academy Mission, Vision and Core Values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist in delivering quality classroom experiences by ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment that encourages social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.
- Encourage a partnering relationship with parents to work as a team for the benefit of the child; inform parents of any information relating to their children, behavior, and development as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to parents by going above and beyond, including assisting parents during arrival and departure and addressing any other questions and concerns promptly and effectively.
- Assist the Lead Teacher in observing and assessing students for creating and maintaining individual profiles, portfolios and parent conferences, and adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
- Maintain interaction with children at all times during small and whole group interactive learning.
- Implement a philosophy of positive reinforcement and redirection of children’s behavior, in accordance with Lightbridge Academy’s Discipline Policy.
- Supervise children during daily outdoor recess.
