Nature of Work:

The CTE Advanced Manufacturing Instructor provides hands-on, standards-based instruction to high school students in areas such as precision machining, industrial systems, robotics, automation, 3D modeling, CNC programming, and modern manufacturing processes. The instructor prepares students for careers and further education in North Carolina’s growing advanced manufacturing sector by aligning instruction with NC CTE standards and industry expectations.

Qualifications and Licensure:

Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field, preferred.
Experience in a secondary or postsecondary teaching or training setting, preferred.
Must hold or be eligible for a North Carolina CTE Professional Educator’s License OR be eligible for a Residency License based on relevant work experience and industry credentials in advanced manufacturing.
Ability to teach both foundational and advanced content across multiple courses.
Minimum 3 years of recent, verifiable work experience in advanced manufacturing, machining, mechatronics, or related fields preferred.
Proficiency in tools and software commonly used in the manufacturing industry (e.g., CNC machines, Fusion 360, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, PLCs, robotics)
Duties and Responsibilities Deliver engaging and relevant instruction based on the North Carolina CTE curriculum for Advanced Manufacturing (

Career Cluster:

Manufacturing).
Teach competencies such as blueprint reading, safety protocols (OSHA), measurement systems, CAD/CAM, CNC operation, additive manufacturing, and industrial maintenance.
Provide instruction aligned to courses such as:
Introduction to Advanced Manufacturing
Advanced Manufacturing I & II
Robotics and Automated Systems
Prepare students for industry-recognized credentials (e.g., OSHA 10, MSSC CPT, NIMS, SolidWorks, or Siemens certifications).
Ensure safety and proper use of tools, machines, and equipment in the classroom and lab.
Collaborate with industry partners and the local workforce development board to provide students with real-world experiences (guest speakers, site visits, internships).
Maintain required documentation for CTE program monitoring, credentialing, and Perkins compliance.
Participate in local and state-level professional development to stay current with instructional practices and industry trends.
Support Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs), such as SkillsUSA, and assist students in competitions and leadership development.
Strong communication, instructional, and classroom management skills.
Ability to develop and modify lessons to meet diverse student needs.
Commitment to preparing students for high-skill, high-demand careers.
Collaborative approach to working with school staff, parents, and community partners.
Physical Requirements Work requires the occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force.
Work around machinery and equipment
Work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires sitting and occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling and lifting. Work has standard vision requirements. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and operating machines.
Special Requirements
Strong background in North Carolina Course of Study/Common Core and Essential Standards.
Must demonstrate leadership.

Must work collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students by improving communication and collaboration between the school and the home and community.
