Job Description
Special Education Teacher – Long Term Substitute SAU 80, Shaker Regional School District Belmont, NH 03220 Shaker Regional School District is seeking a Long Term Substitute for a General Special Education Teacher. NH Certification or Statement of Eligibility in endorsement 1900 (Special Education Teacher) is required. This assignment will be from August 26, 2025 through December 23, 2025.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Deliver instruction utilizing appropriate resources, equipment, materials, technology, and instructional strategies.2. Provide differentiated instruction based on the students individual level of functioning and preferred learning modalities.3. Provide a positive role model of appropriate and respectful interactions with students and staff.4. Develops, teaches, and reviews clear and concise classroom rules, routines, procedures, and expectations.5. Administer appropriate and required informal and formal assessments based on student needs and state regulations6. Collect and interpret data and utilizes it to modify instruction, content, and to report progress to parents and school district.7. Summarize assessment results and incorporates this information and input from other staff members and administrators into the Reevaluation Report and utilizes this information to develop/modify an appropriate IEP.8. Maintain constant and ongoing communication regarding students and all facets of the program.9. Work in conjunction with the IEP Team to determine the Least Restrictive Environment for the student based on all Federal and State Regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS/RECOMMENDED WORK TRAITS
Training in Multi-sensory reading approaches and specialized instruction in reading and math.
Must be willing to participate in additional District-sponsored training (i.e. CPI, Wilson, LIPS, Orton-Gillingham)Proper certification/eligibility certificate to teach from the NH Department of Education.
Bachelor’s degree, or higher, from a recognized college or university with a major study in education.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with teachers, agency personnel, students, parents, and the public.
Knowledge of basic education techniques and methods.
Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet students’ individual learning styles.
Willingness to maintain an appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities.
