Job:
The practice of nuclear medicine is performed by a segment ofhealth care professionals responsible for the administration ofradioactive material to patients for diagnostic or therapeuticpurposes. Radioactive materials and a gamma camera are used innuclear medicine to image various organs and body areas to aid indiagnosis, and in some instances treat, various pathologicalconditions. Although an interdisciplinary team of radiologists,nuclear medicine technologists, and support staff plays a criticalrole in the delivery of health services, it is the nuclear medicinetechnologist who performs the actual patient examination ortreatment. Nuclear medicine technology integrates scientificknowledge and technical skills with effective patient interactionto provide quality patient care and useful diagnostic information.
What Youll Do:
- Performs nuclear medicine procedures based on theAmerican Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) NuclearMedicine Practice Standards and the ASRT Code of Ethics.
- Performsvenipuncture.
- Prepares, administers, and documents activitiesrelated to isotope administration.
- Understands and adheres todepartmental exam protocols.
- Actively participates in qualitycontrol and quality assurance activities using the APIE model.

Who You Are:
- Completion of an accredited educationalprogram in Nuclear Medicine, Required
- Twenty-four month clinicalinternship, Required
- Board of Medical Imaging and RadiationTherapy, Required
- ARRT or NMTCB certification, Required
- BLS,Required
- Or able to obtain within orientation period after hire
