The Fitch unit is a 45 bed, Acute Care MedicalUnit, with approximately 120 employees. The average patient censusis 40 patients and specialties focusing on sepsis, respiratory,diabetes, GI, oncology, end of life, and some surgical. The Fitchunit provides an outstanding supportive environment and advancedtraining for its staff. The unit also offers a relaxation room forits employees to decompress and relief stress. The nursing staff issupported by a charge RN and team lead, whose focus is to make thisthe best place to give and receive care. Many years ago, our staffcame up with our unit’s own mission and vision. The mission is”Everyone Helps Everyone” and the vision is “Teamwork Makes theDream Work”. About the

Job:

The GPU RN delivers care forpatients with psychiatric conditions based on the physical ability,intellectual development, psychosocial, education and safety needsof the geriatric patient. This role works closely with amultidisciplinary treatment team model within a collaborative andsupportive environment. Practices in a manner consistent with theElliot Hospital Interprofessional Practice model; the ANA’s SocialPolicy Statement, Scope and Standards of Practice, and the NursingCode of Ethics; and relevant specialty standards of practice.

WhatYou’ll Do:

• Provide care to patients with complex psychiatric andmedical needs
• Create and maintain a safe and therapeuticenvironment for patients and families
• Embraces and promoteschange to support optimal patient outcomes and an effectiveprofessional practice environment.
• Involves patient/family ingoal setting and planning, and communicates that plan of care topatient and family for input; and to colleagues to ensure seamlesscare across shifts and settings.
• Utilizes current evidence andrelevant national/specialty standards to guide practice and/orperformance and identifies areas for improvement.
• Demonstratescompetent clinical practice utilizing clinical decision making andcritical thinking skills.

Who You Are:

• Graduate of an accreditedschool of nursing (ASN or BSN
• BSN preferred)
• Current NewHampshire, compact, or multistate licensure as Registered Nurserequired
• Ability to obtain BLS qualification during orientationperiod and maintain during employment
• Aggression de-escalationtraining approved by
