New Hampshire DOE Special Education certification and specialized endorsement in Emotional Disturbance Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or related discipline ot assignment Master’s Degree in related area preferred One to three years of successful prior experience for the appropriate grade levels preferred. Experience teaching students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges is preferred. Position Summary Under the general supervision of the High School Special Education Administrator, the position involves working with students in grades 9-12 who are identified as having an Emotional Disturbance or Other Health Impaired and who are in the emotional support program (called the Expect Success Program•”ESP”). The position requires the ability and flexibility to deliver services to meet the academic and social/emotional needs of students enrolled in the program and to work collaboratively with teachers, related service personnel, paraprofessionals, parents, administrators and area agencies. Moreover, the position requires a strong understanding of the special education process, excellent organizational skills, the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the widely divergent needs of students, connect with and build strong relationships with parents/families, and case management responsibilites of students in the program. Additionally, the position requires the ability to create an environment of respect and rapport, to manage routines and procedures, and to contribute to the culture of positive student behavior. Solid communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines and a willingness to participate in a professional learning community are also essential.
