  • Regularly communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress, goals, and challenges, and offer strategies for supporting student growth at home.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to review and update students’ IEPs, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and advocating for students’ needs.
  • Promote student independence by encouraging self-advocacy, decision-making, and responsibility for their own learning.
  • Collaborate with other special education professionals, counselors, and paraprofessionals to create a team approach to support each student’s unique needs.
  • Stay current with research, best practices, and legal requirements in special education to continually refine teaching strategies and better support students.

  • Ability to implement and track individualized education plans and adjustments.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong desire to support and empower students in achieving their academic and personal goals.
