We are looking for a motivated and organized individual to fill a Combination Veterinary Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant position at our new urgent care clinic.
Position Overview:
This hybrid role combines the responsibilities of a Veterinary Receptionist and Veterinary Assistant. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic multitasker, providing excellent client service and supporting the veterinary team with medical and technical tasks. You’ll play a critical role in the day-to-day operations of the hospital, ensuring smooth client interactions and assisting with patient care during exams, treatments, and procedures.

Veterinary Receptionist:
Greet clients and their pets with a warm, friendly attitude as they enter and leave the hospital. Answer phone calls and respond to emails, scheduling appointments, answering inquiries, and providing information on services and policies. Process client transactions, including billing, payments, and record-keeping. Maintain accurate client and patient records in the practice management software. Coordinate and manage the appointment calendar, ensuring proper scheduling of veterinary services and procedures. As a
Veterinary Assistant:
Primary responsibility is to assist technicians and veterinarian with the smooth and efficient flow of patient exams, treatments, and procedures. Duties will include assisting with diagnostic testing on Idexx laboratory equipment. Preparing patient prescriptions and discharging patients. Take patient histories and provide support during medical procedures, including taking vitals. Prepare and clean examination rooms and surgical areas, ensuring all equipment is clean and ready for use. Help manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure stock is maintained. Additional training and skills may include a focus on patient handling during exams, diagnostics and treatments.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework or degree in a related field is a plus). Prior experience in a veterinary office or customer service role preferred but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a friendly, compassionate demeanor. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Basic knowledge of animal care and medical terminology is a plus. Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments. Proficiency with computers and office software; experience with veterinary practice management software is a plus. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays.
