Job Description
Newport School District is seeking a qualified and detail-oriented Special Education Teacher to support Extended School Year (ESY) programming through case management and special education evaluations for students age 3-22 during the summer months. This role is ideal for an educator with strong organizational skills and experience in IEP development, compliance documentation, and conducting or supporting special education evaluations, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with a team. This position will be for up to 66 hours between June 16, 2025 and August 15, 2025. All work must be performed on-site. Meetings will be scheduled primarily Tuesday-Thursday afternoons, depending on parent/guardian availability.

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the case manager for assigned students participating in ESY services
Coordinate and facilitate summer special education meetings as needed (e.g., annual reviews, amendments, eligibility determinations)
Collaborate with evaluators, related service providers, and families to support timely and compliant summer special education evaluations
Complete required paperwork, including evaluation summaries, IEP documents, and progress updates
Ensure compliance with state and federal timelines related to evaluations and IEP implementation
Maintain effective communication with district special education administration and summer staff
