Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Agreement between the FMRSD and the Fall Mountain Teachers Association, Inc.

Job Goal:

To provide opportunities for students to fulfill their potential for academic, artistic, athletic and social growth.

Performance Responsibilities:
  • Support the regular educator by modifying curriculum for students eligible for special education.
  • Work to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
  • Implement state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
  • Participate in the development of and oversee implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education.
  • Incorporate the New Hampshire Frameworks and Grade Level Expectations into student’s IEP
  • Clearly communicate the learning objective and the importance of the learning to all students
  • Utilizes research based teaching strategies and programs
  • Supervise and support paraprofessionals as they implement instruction.
  • Provide direct instruction to 1 to 1 paraprofessionals
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
  • Translate lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroom
  • Evaluate and maintain data on students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports
  • Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss student’s progress and interpret the school program
  • Identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problem
  • Provide case management of IEP students
  • Responsible for contact with parents and quarterly progress reports
  • Consult with classroom teachers on a regular basis
  • Work to improve student performance and support the district goal of improving standardized testing results by 5-7 percentage points each year
