Craig School seeks talented, dynamic and diverse candidates for part-time certified STEAM Teachers. Under the direction of the Project Director, a STEAM Teacher 3-8 shall support 3-8 Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics curriculum and instruction.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains an inventory of all materials and orders replacement materials, as needed through the Educational Coordinator. Provides support to students, teachers and parent. Provides assistance to teachers and staff members in planning and incorporating STEAM activities into daily instruction. Partners with PTA and school organizations to promote STEAM-related activities during the school day or evenings. Serves as the teacher representative to the School and District. Liaisons with organizations to promote environmental initiatives. Coordinate with the Educational Coordinator and attend at least 1 STEM workshop during the current school year. (See NJ Department of Education for upcoming webinars, etc.) Assists with data collection and analysis for District STEAM-related grants. Assists with the planning and preparation for any upcoming science fairs Provides STEAM-related professional development to colleagues. Shares best practices in STEAM education with colleagues. Assists with other STEAM-related duties, as requested by building principal. Any other duties assigned by the Superintendent or Educational Coordinator
QUALIFICATIONS
Cognitive Abilities Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with Moonachie School District staff and parents, Meadowlands Area YMCA Staff, business associates, and general community. Ability to work on multiple tasks and prioritize appropriately. Ability to recognize areas of concern relating to elementary education issues and propose or recommend appropriate solutions to problems. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to exercise initiative and make independent decisions to reschedule work to meet deadlines or to effectively handle emergency work. Professional Qualifications At least five years’ experience as a professional employee in an elementary setting. Experience with STEAM Education. Demonstrated knowledge and application of effective elementary education principles, practices, and trends. Ability to perform the above responsibilities at a high level. Physical Demands Occasional travel to School District offices, buildings, classroom and grounds, as well as to various community centers and Meadowlands YMCA Offices. Occasional traversing throughout various buildings. Often sitting for extended periods. Standing for periods of time. Sensory Ability Ability to communicate effectively in all aspects of the job. Temperament Ability to work as a leader, coordinator and a member of a team. Must be courteous and able to effectively manage job responsibilities. Ability to use technology for group meetings, presentations (i.e. overhead, document camera, projector and video equipment). Clearances Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check, fingerprints, Child Abuse Record Information CARI Check) CPR and First Aid (once hired).
HOURS:
6-8 hours per week. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and hours of availability based on 21st CCLC program needs. The 21st CCLC requiring the teachers to be available for summer programs, and possibly works 1-2 Saturdays per month.
COMPENSATION
$27.00 per hour
