Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and New York State Certified Elementary Special Education Teacher to join our team and lead a 12:1:1 special class. The ideal candidate will possess strong instructional expertise, exceptional classroom management skills, and a commitment to supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with diverse learning needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement differentiated instruction using district curriculum aligned with IEP goals and NYS learning standards. Provide a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment tailored to students with varying abilities and behavioral needs. Collaborate with related service providers, general education teachers, and support staff to deliver cohesive instruction and services. Maintain accurate and timely student records, including IEPs, progress reports, and data collection. Use evidence-based practices to manage behaviors and support students emotional regulation and social development. Communicate effectively with families, administrators, and interdisciplinary team members. Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
Qualifications:
Valid New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities, Grades 1-6 Bachelor s or Master s degree in Special Education or a related field. Prior experience teaching in a special class setting, preferably 12:1:1, is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to implement effective instructional strategies and behavioral supports. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, equitable learning environment.
Compensation & Benefits:
Starting at $47,000, commensurate with experience.
