Introduction:
At VocoVision, we are dedicated to transforming the educational experience for students with visual impairments through innovative remote teaching. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who excels in a remote work environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments to determine students’ educational needs and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the unique needs of students with visual impairments, including braille instruction, orientation and mobility training, and assistive technology. Provide virtual instruction and support through both synchronous and asynchronous learning platforms.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Special Education. Active New Yorkcertification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired certification required! Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired, including proficiency in braille instruction and assistive technology. Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation for students with visual impairments. Comfortable using technology for instruction and communication (Google Workspace, Zoom, etc.).
Qualifications:
Experience teaching in a remote or virtual setting. Familiarity with additional disabilities often associated with visual impairments (e.g., deaf-blindness). Two years of school experience is preferred.
