Special Education Teacher PK-12
The Plum Borough School District seeks a compassionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to support and empower students with disabilities through individualized, inclusive, and equity-focused instruction. This position is located at Plum Senior High School and is instrumental in ensuring that all learners access a rigorous and supportive education that meets their unique needs and helps them thrive.
As a valued member of our instructional team, you will:
Deliver specially designed instruction aligned with IEPs and PA Academic Standards
Develop and maintain compliant IEPs in collaboration with families and multidisciplinary teams
Provide instruction in a variety of settings including inclusive classrooms, resource rooms, and specialized programs
Apply evidence-based practices to address academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
Use data to monitor progress and adjust instruction and supports accordingly
Collaborate with general education teachers to implement co-teaching, accommodations, and modifications
Manage a student caseload and serve as a liaison between students, families, staff, and service providers
Implement Positive Behavior Support Plans and proactive classroom management strategies
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with IDEA, Chapter 14, Section 504, and district expectations
Participate in evaluations, re-evaluations, and multidisciplinary team meetings
We are looking for a reflective, resilient educator who values collaboration, advocacy, and growth. The ideal candidate demonstrates a strong understanding of inclusive education, student-centered instruction, and special education compliance. A valid PA certification in Special Education PK-12 (or 7-12 certification) is required. Additional certifications such as ESL, or Reading Specialist. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) credential is highly preferred.
