Emergency Services Teacher 4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 1500 4th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 Emergency Services Teacher – School Year/9 Month The GACTC is seeking a passionate and qualified Emergency Services Teacher to join our thriving program. This position will begin in Fall 2025 and requires a minimum of four years of verifiable paid industry experience in law enforcement, firefighting, and/or as an EMT. Preference will be given to those who possess related industry certifications. Pennsylvania teacher certification a plus; otherwise college courses leading to certification will be required. As the Emergency Services teacher, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive instruction to students in the fields of emergency services. You will develop and deliver curriculum, instruct students at varying skill levels, and assess their performance of skills. Your role will involve preparing students for future careers in the emergency services industry by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver comprehensive instruction in emergency services, including lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments. Provide instruction in a variety of emergency services areas as they relate to entry level skills in law enforcement, firefighting, EMT and other safety services. Instruct students on the proper use of equipment and technology commonly used in emergency services settings. Teach students essential skills, including the techniques, methods and procedures particular to the areas of criminal justice and fire protection especially in emergency and disaster situations. Incorporate hands-on learning experiences, simulations, and real-world case studies to enhance student understanding and application of emergency services concepts. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and empathy among students. Assess student performance and provide timely feedback on assignments, projects, and assessments. Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and advancements in healthcare practices. Ensure a safe and healthy learning environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations related to emergency services practices.
Qualifications:
Candidate must meet one of the following criteria: Minimum of 4 years of wage-earning experience in the occupational area to be taught Minimum of 2 years of wage-earning experience in the occupational area to be taught AND baccalaureate degree Minimum of 4 years of experience as a volunteer firefighter or EMT Minimum of 4 years of full-time experience teaching postsecondary courses at an accredited institution of higher education in the occupational area to be taught To learn more about this program, please log on to www.gactc.edu/high-school-programs and select the applicable program from the Directory.
