Montessori Children’s House Teacher Penn-Mont Academy 131 Holliday Hills Drive, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 Join Our Montessori Children’s House Teaching Team! Are you a passionate, Early Childhood Montessori-credentialed educator? Penn-Mont Academy, the third oldest Montessori school in the U.S., is seeking a dedicated teacher to join our team. With over 60 years of excellence, AMS accreditation, a strong academic curriculum, and a beautiful Outdoor Education Environment, we provide a rich learning experience for children infant through sixth grade.

Job Summary:

Our Montessori program fosters developmental growth through a hands-on, child-centered curriculum in multi-age classrooms. Teachers guide students with respect for their individual learning styles, encouraging independence and a love of learning.

Essential Responsibilities:
Instruction & Curriculum Implementation:

Deliver the Montessori curriculum in alignment with the school’s mission and philosophy. Develop individualized lesson plans that address students’ academic and behavioral needs. Provide individual and small-group lessons, incorporating hands-on learning experiences. Foster a sense of community through class meetings and group activities. Collaborate with co-teachers and specialists to enhance instruction.

Learning Environment Preparation:

Maintain a well-organized, developmentally appropriate classroom with Montessori materials. Supplement learning with high-quality teacher-made or commercial materials. Ensure a welcoming and orderly learning space, including start-of-year setup and year-end clean-up.

Assessment & Record Keeping:

Document and track student progress using observation and assessment tools. Identify students needing additional support and follow procedures for evaluations or services. Assist in student transitions between program levels.

Parent Communication:

Conduct introductory meetings with new families to gather important student information. Prepare written reports and lead scheduled parent-teacher conferences. Attend parent education and program events to foster school-home collaboration.

Supervision & Mentorship:

Guide assistant teachers, co-teachers, and interns as assigned. Provide input for staff evaluations and mentorship as needed.

Health & Safety:

Supervise students at all times to ensure their safety and well-being. Follow and implement emergency procedures, including monthly drills. Monitor students for signs of illness or injury and report concerns promptly.

Professional Development & School Engagement:

Attend staff meetings, professional development, and Montessori training sessions. Contribute to school events, newsletters, and community outreach. Support school-wide initiatives, fundraising, and special events.

Qualifications:
Education:

PA State Public or Private School Teaching Certification.

Experience:

Montessori teaching experience preferred.

Licenses:

AMS Montessori Certification; Valid PA Driver’s License.

Special Requirements:

Full-time or part-time availability (hours may vary by program level). First Aid, CPR, and Fire Safety certification (or willingness to obtain). Provisional Lead Teacher status available for those completing Montessori certification.
