Job Summary:
Creative Health Services, Inc., one of Montgomery County’s largest drug and alcohol prevention providers, is seeking a Prevention Specialist to deliver prevention programs within the Spring-Ford, Perkiomen Valley, Pottsgrove, Pottstown, Upper Perkiomen School Districts, and surrounding communities. The Prevention Specialist will implement evidence-based programs designed to reduce substance abuse, bullying, and other risky behaviors among students in grades 1-10. This role requires adaptability, quick thinking, and strong problem-solving skills to meet the dynamic needs of diverse school environments. The specialist will deliver age-appropriate lessons, facilitate data collection to assess program impact, and foster a safe and supportive learning atmosphere. The position offers flexible part-time or independent contractor opportunities, with schedules that vary based on each school district’s academic calendar. To prepare you for success, we provide eight paid trainings covering program curriculum, teaching strategies, and Student Assistance Program (SAP) certification, as well as regular supervision.
Schedule Flexibility:
The ideal candidate must be highly flexible and reliable, able to manage a schedule with varying hours between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. Strong time management and proactive communication skills are essential to coordinate travel between multiple schools and adapt to last-minute changes (such as snow days). Comfort with ambiguity and the ability to maintain professionalism amid a fluctuating routine are critical. The ideal candidate is passionate about promoting healthy choices and positive behaviors to support student well-being and academic success.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Teach evidence-based programs to grades 1-10 students across five school districts, focusing on emotional awareness, impulse control, and positive goal-setting (e.g., CATCH My Breath , Too Good for Drugs , Prevention Plus Wellness ). Represent Creative Health at school and community events as needed. Facilitate psycho-educational groups on stress, friendships, family changes, and girls’ empowerment. Maintain a flexible schedule based on academic calendars and contracts with multiple districts.
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in health education, education or the social or behavioral sciences and two years of progressively responsible experience in drug and alcohol prevention activities; OR one year of experience as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training. Proven experience delivering prevention programs in school or youth settings, preferably as an independent provider or contractor. Strong adaptability, quick thinking, and problem-solving skills to address diverse student/teacher needs independently. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage varied audiences. Self-motivated with strong organizational skills to manage multiple programs and school schedules. Knowledgeable about substance abuse, mental health, and youth risk behavior prevention strategies. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between schools as required.
