Day Care Rd, Mc Connellsburg, PA 17233 The Tuscarora Intermediate Unit invites applicants for Teacher Apprentice for Special Education. This is a 181 day per year position located in Fulton County, PA with a salary of $20-$25 per hour, based on education and experience. The Teacher Apprentice for Early Intervention shall be directly responsible to the Supervisor of Special Education or his/her designee for supervision and evaluation. Qualification Standards 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Associates degree required; preferred in early childhood education. 3. Desire to continue a career in the area of education. 4. Experience with special education and early childhood education is preferred. 5. Maintain enrollment in coursework and/or credentialing program to earn special education teacher certification. Essential Duties/ Skills & Abilities 1. Assists the teacher in implementing classroom procedures: including preparing material, copying and creating materials in support of instructional activities pre-planned by the educational team. 2. Assist the teacher in progress monitoring and adapting the curriculum/routines to meet the needs of students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, learning styles and special needs. 3. Implement positive behavior support plans under the direction of the teacher, psychologist or social worker. 4. Utilize a school-wide positive behavior system in the management of group and student behaviors competencies without restriction, to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. 5. Implement de-escalation techniques and physical interventions, in accordance with safety care competencies, to maintain a safe and supportive learning environment. 6. Communicate and work cooperatively with co-workers and students to meet student needs. 7. Assist with documentation including but not limited to: student, behavior, attendance, record maintenance, end-of-year reports, and other reports, as required and directed by the teacher. 8. Attends meetings as directed by the program supervisor. 9. Understand and adhere to all Intermediate Unit policies and procedures. 10. Demonstrate cooperation and flexibility in performing other related duties as assigned. 11. Maintains student and/or program confidentiality. 12. Maintain enrollment in coursework and/or credentialing program to earn special education teacher certification. 13. Meets all coursework requisites, passing grades, and credentialing requirements to successfully continue the program. 14. Actively participate in professional development opportunities, workshops, and training sessions to enhance teaching skills and stay updated with current educational practices. 15. Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and other staff members. 16. Demonstrate the appropriate use of the English language in both oral and written communications skills. 17. Communicate effectively with the public, staff members, students and parents and other community partners using tact and good judgment. 18. Assist students with personal hygiene, health and safety issues if required. 19. Demonstrate use of technology to access email and calendars and to complete basic word processing and data based applications as is required. 20. Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force, occasionally, to lift, carry, push or otherwise move equipment/supplies, be outside in all seasons, hear within normal ranges and see within normal ranges. 21. Willingness to travel to various training sites and staff developmental activities. 22. Ability to provide personal, reliable vehicle for own travel requirements. 23. Ability to present oneself in a professional manner following attendance, punctuality, personal appearance and appropriate dress code. 24. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals of this position and/ or as assigned by the Teacher or Supervisor of Special Education.
