Qualifications:

Active PA Special Education K-12 or PK-8 certification is required.
Wilson certification preferred.
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Education is required.
Knowledge of IDEA and PA Chapter 14 regulations; demonstrated experience writing and implementing IEPs.
Excellent classroom management and data-driven instruction skills.
Strong verbal and written communication; collaborative team approach.

Description:

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. This position will be a Special Education Teacher with a reading focus working with middle school students. SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates.

Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instruction in all core subject areas.
Create a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment that supports academic and social-emotional learning.
Lead Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings; develop measurable goals, accommodations, modifications, and services.
Deliver tailored instruction in either pull-out or inclusion settings, using evidence-based strategies.
Use supplementary aids, specialized materials, and assistive technology to facilitate student learning.
Participate in multi-disciplinary teams for evaluations, 504 planning, behavioral or transition planning.
Ensure all services, placements, and procedural safeguards meet IDEA, Section 504, and PA regulations.
Manage required documentation (IEPs, data collection, etc).
Stay current with special education best practices and PA guidelines via professional development.
Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of all students.
Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.
Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
Collaborate with other grade-level/subject-area teachers, specialists, and support staff.
Participate in professional development, faculty meetings, and school events.

Terms of employment: Full-time, contracted position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the collective bargaining agreement. Position to begin at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.
