THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a crucial role in the education and development of inmates with impaired learning abilities. Your work will involve designing and adapting special education programs, using a variety of techniques to develop basic learning abilities through individualized and small group instruction. You will also be responsible for assessing inmate potential, progress, and behavior through various testing methods and maintaining a safe and effective learning environment. Your duties will include managing classroom materials, completing necessary paperwork, and evaluating inmate performance. Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week + Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday
- Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55. +

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
+ This position requires possession of a valid and active professional special education certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education. When no candidates possess the named certification, the candidate must be eligible for an Emergency Permit issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education that is appropriate to the position. + This is a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility. An employee assigned to a Commonwealth Secondary Diploma facility who was hired based on eligibility for an Emergency Permit must obtain a valid and active special education certification issued by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
