Job Description
Category Schools – Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract This role is designed for a dedicated Special Education Teacher working with students in grades K-5 within an academically focused elementary school environment in Washington, PA. The position spans the entire school year on a contract basis and offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a specialized needs setting primarily serving students with autism and learning disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver individualized instruction tailored to students with diverse learning needs. Manage cases effectively, including developing and implementing behavior plans. Collaborate with staff and families to support student growth and achievement. Maintain accurate records and documentation to meet educational standards. Adapt teaching strategies to support an academically driven environment without aggressive behavior concerns.
Qualifications:
Valid Pennsylvania Special Education (K-12) certification is required. Elementary (K-5) generalist certification is strongly preferred. Prior experience with behavior plans and special education case management is highly desirable. Ability to work within a specialized school setting focused on academic excellence. Strong communication and organizational skills.
Work Schedule & Location:
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM EST (35 hours per week). Located in Washington, PA, within an elementary school serving a unique student population. This position provides a rewarding opportunity to support students whose needs could not be fully met in traditional public school environments.
