The School of Engineering at Brown University has a new and exciting opportunity to hire a Masters’ Student Career and Operations Specialist
The Masters’ Student Career and Operations Specialist plays a critical role in supporting career outcomes for the School of Engineering’s (SoE) growing master’s student population. The incumbent will provide individual and group career counseling, resources, and coaching to master’s students across our portfolio of 10+ programs to assist them to make informed career decisions and prepare for effective job searches. They will employ techniques and present resources tailored to each student’s stage in the career development process. In collaboration with the Center for Master’s Student Excellence, the incumbent will work with students to craft their resumes, curriculum vitae, or other materials to communicate effectively with both non-academic and academic audiences.
Additionally, key work involves developing and enhancing the value of PRIME and all SoE master’s programs. This Specialist will develop and implement program value propositions that focus on delivering excellence. Proactive program development efforts will include analyzing targeted marketing strategies for increasing enrollment.

The successful candidate, as a minimum, should have the following background: Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Engineering or a related field or Master’s in Career Counseling preferred.
2-3 years of experience in technology management, data analytics, finance, or university program administration.
Experience in graduate-level admissions, career development, or student engagement preferred.
Strong background in financial modeling, competitor research, and industry partnership development.
Proficiency in database management tools (Slate, GSIM, COGNOS, DRUPAL) and market analysis tools.
Experience working in a higher education setting is preferred.
Bilingual or multilingual capabilities are desirable given the program’s demographics.
Job Competencies
Strong organizational, administrative and time management skills.
Ability to independently problem solve and prioritize workload in a multi-task environment while maintaining careful attention to detail.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and implement short and long-term goals independently, as well as bring a strong team member when the situation warrants.
Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills.
High level of computer expertise and continued interest in maintaining skills: Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong customer service, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain confidentiality.
Thorough knowledge of office systems (records maintenance, procedures, etc.).
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
Ability to work under pressure and exercise tact, discretion, judgment and ability to prioritize task completion.
