Join a dynamic team and make a difference as a Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) Specialist in Summerville, just 40 minutes from Charleston for the 20252026 school year ! This full-time position offers the opportunity to work with K-12 students in need of specialized support, providing instruction and resources to ensure all students have access to their education. As a DHH Specialist , you will collaborate with school staff to create an inclusive, supportive environment for students with hearing impairments. Youll use your expertise to develop and implement strategies for communication, education, and accessibility, making a meaningful impact on students academic and social development.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments (K-12). Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) and collaborate with other school professionals to ensure appropriate accommodations. Monitor student progress and make adjustments to teaching methods as needed. Foster an inclusive classroom environment and support students’ social and emotional well-being. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and needs.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field (required). South Carolina state teaching certification or the ability to obtain one (required). Prior experience in schools working with Deaf and Hard of Hearing students is a must. Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
