This contracted position offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students’ learning experiences.
Position Overview:
As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI), you will provide specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring they have access to quality education tailored to their needs. Your expertise in Braille literacy, assistive technology, and orientation and mobility strategies will be essential in fostering student success.
Minimum Requirements:
Active teaching license in your home state AND in the state where services are provided Masters degree in Visual Impairment Education, Special Education, or a related field At least 2 years of teaching experience, preferably with visually impaired students Proficiency in Braille and assistive technologies for visually impaired students Strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement specialized lesson plans tailored to visually impaired students needs Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and school staff to create an inclusive learning environment Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and communication methods Monitor and document student progress, adjusting instruction as needed Provide consultation and training to educators and support staff on best practices for teaching visually impaired students Why Join Us?
