JOB SUMMARY
To provide students with special needs individualized instruction and support in all academic and functional areas identified on each child’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP), fostering growth in academic, social, and behavioral skills in collaboration with general education teachers and families.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Identifies students’ specific learning challenges, skill gaps, or social adjustment issues and implements targeted remediation plans. Provides students with specialized instruction that supports all core/regular education classes. Assesses students’ academic and functional needs and monitors progress toward mastery of their IEP goals. Prepares progress reports, administers curriculum-based assessments, and completes year-end evaluations as directed by DD2. Provides research-based teaching methods/strategies that meet the needs of each child’s IEP goals. Adapts curriculum materials and teaching methods to accommodate students’ learning styles, abilities, and individual goals. Educates and counsels students about their academic/functional strengths and areas of deficits. Establishes and maintains standards of individual student behavior. Collaborates with general education teachers to support student needs to promote satisfactory classwork, homework, affective behaviors and inclusivity within the general education environment. Collaborates with parents to build understanding of their child’s strengths, challenges, and instructional programs that support their learning needs. Participates in development in development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans. Maintains detailed records of Attendance of special education service minutes; Benchmark data for tracking progress toward IEP goals; Ongoing progress monitoring data for each student; and Curriculum management within the special education program. Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and legal requirements in special education. Performs all other duties as assigned by Principal.
