As a Clinical Specialist II in ED/Urgent Care , you’ll play a key role in advancing patient care through education, mentorship, research, and operational leadership —all within a dynamic, fast-paced environment designed to provide exceptional care. Job Summary The Clinical Specialist II is responsible for developing and maintaining patient care programs in their specialty area. This role integrates clinical expertise, education, consulting, case management, and research to improve patient outcomes while advancing best practices.
Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring patient care and providing clinical support to improve outcomes Developing and implementing nursing care plans specific to patient needs Guiding and supporting nursing staff through clinical decision-making Functioning as a facilitator for best practice , evaluating processes and equipment for safety, cost-effectiveness, and benefits Collaborating with healthcare teams on complex clinical situations Providing one-on-one education for nursing staff Leading quality improvement initiatives through evidence-based practice and research
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor of Science in
Nursing Experience:
Minimum 4 years of acute care nursing experience
Required Certifications/Licensure:
Active RN license issued by the South Carolina State Board of Nursing Graduation from an accredited certification program in specialty (must be obtained within six months). Maintains certification in BLS and other certifications as appropriate such as ACLS and PALS.

Patient Care & Clinical Excellence Serves as an expert clinician , ensuring high-quality patient care and nursing best practices Develops and implements advanced assessment and treatment protocols Provides direction to nursing staff, offering guidance on complex care decisions Models excellence in nursing by leveraging critical thinking and problem-solving skills Education & Mentorship Leads staff education programs to ensure up-to-date knowledge and best practices Provides ongoing coaching and mentorship to nursing teams Collaborates with medical teams to facilitate learning and professional development Performance Improvement & Research Identifies opportunities for process improvements , enhancing patient outcomes Conducts and facilitates nursing research , expanding the scientific base of nursing practice Leads the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols Monitors patient outcomes and collaborates with hospital leadership to drive improvements Leadership & Communication Advocates for patients, staff, and the advancement of nursing excellence Communicates patient care updates effectively to clinical teams and leadership Serves as a resource for nursing students and new healthcare professionals
